Do you remember how it felt as a child to go out and play with your friends, or when you were the best at jumping rope in your group? Maybe the thrill of feeling the wind on your face as you rode your bike faster and faster? Making sure many children in Puerto Rico experience that feeling is one of the goals of the Atención Atención Foundation. For the past six years, through its “Playtime Hour” project, the Foundation has traveled across the Puerto Rican archipelago, impacting more than 15,000 children between the ages of 4 and 12.

So, on July 30th, we gathered at the Convention Center where families could playand compete healthily, remembering how important it is to play in childhood. We set up stations for Jumping Rope, Obstacle Races, Hula Hoop Competitions, Peregrinas, a mechanical bull, and a specially designed section of games adapted so that all our children, typical and non-typical, could have fun and enjoy. Additionally, thanks to our alliance with the Department of Recreation and Sports, we had an E-Games area supervised by members of the national team in that discipline. The grand finale was led by the band Atención Atención , who along with their faithful friends – Mr. Sapo, Johnny el Lagartijo, and Tito el Angelito – sang their greatest hits and many of their new songs.

The event was a resounding success, with nearly 3,000 people attending. We hope to repeat it next year and look forward to everyone’s support at the 2nd National Children’s Day.
